THE SHOPPING CART

Anywhere you see an "Order" button, clicking on it will put that item into your virtual "shopping cart".

It operates just like a real shopping cart. You can put things in to it and take them out. But it has some real advantages over a real one - it tells you how much you're spending, and if you want to get extras of something you don't have to go back to the shelves - just change the quantity!

You can check your cart from anywhere in our site by clicking on the "Shopping Cart" selection on the left-hand Navigation Bar.

SEARCHING

If you know the title, author or ISBN (International Standard Book Number) of what you want, your search should be easy. Just enter as much of that information as you have in the search box, and like they say ... the computer does the rest.

A HINT OR TWO TO MAKE SURE YOU FIND WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR "FIRST TIME"...

ISBNs are generally most certain to give you exactly what you're looking for. But ... updated editions of a favourite title will, of course, have different ISBNs. So "Winn Rosch's PC Bible 6th. Ed." will have a different ISBN from the 5th Edition.

If you don't know the ISBN the next best approach is to enter both the title and the author of the book you're looking for. Entering just the title will usually hit the right title, but ... due to the vagaries of computer database searches if there's a semi-colon or subtitle or some other bit of information you may not know about a title, the system has been known to swamp you with too many "sound alike" titles.

For example: the database is so large that searching for "In the Zone" coughs up hundreds of titles, but since the full name of the book is "In the Zone; Epic Survival Stories from the Mountaineering World" by Peter Potterfield, adding an extra word or two from the title, or adding the author's name will take you right to it!

Searching on key words can be a very profitable experience. Try plugging in "Bahamas". Or if you're looking for titles about how to use the Unix computer operating system or how to program in HTML, you'll find a wealth of helpful information and can then chose a title that's just right for you.

One of the best features of our database is that many of titles have associated descriptions, jacket illustrations, tables of contents and reviews. If a title is underlined, you can click on it to see that additional information. And you can add your own reviews and hopefully our own on-line community can produce some uniquely Bahamian angles on what's out there.
